In 1959, the Badge of Honor "Master of Sports of the USSR" was introduced, which was awarded to athletes who fulfilled the standard for the title of "Master of Sports of the USSR" for 5 years in a row. By the Decree of the State Committee for Sports of the USSR of June 26, 1986, the awarding of these signs was discontinued [6]. In sports literature, the owners of this sign are called the "Honorary Master of Sports of the USSR" (standard abbreviation - PMS).
